Interestingly, those same “clouded mind” feelings came back after they’d stopped listening to classical music before they fell asleep.
Classical music before bed has been shown to help with long-term pain relief
A study presented by the Journal for Advanced Nursing in England showed that doctors were able to reduce the amount of opiates given to individuals that had just recently had stomach surgery after they prescribed a heavy dosage of classical music before they went to bed.
This study has been repeated numerous times all over the world with the same kinds of results, leading doctors and researchers to conclude that there are real healing benefits provided by the soothing sounds of classical music.
Boost your emotional intelligence and empathy with classical music before bed
In 2001, researchers at the Southern Methodist University in the United States began a 10 year long research project to better understand the impact that classical music had on heightening of emotional power, empathy, and emotional intelligence in those that listened for at least 45 minutes before bed.
The research results were incredible, showing that those that took the time to listen to 45 minutes worth of classical music right before bed not only registered as being more empathetic, more emotionally into with society, and demonstrating higher emotional intelligence, but that they were also able to handle stress, pressure, and anxiety much better than the general population.
Obviously, the benefits are certainly there for those willing to listen to a bit of classical before they head off to meet Mr. Sandman – and because it is so easy to get started, you’d have to be at least a little bit crazy not to give it a shot!
