John
Lenehan is one of
Britain
's most experienced and sought after musicians. He made his Proms debut in 1996
and the following year appeared with the
London
Philharmonic Orchestra in Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto at the Barbican
Centre. He has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in their Festival
Hall Gershwin Centenary concert (1999), played Mozart with the English Chamber
Orchestra and appeared as soloist with the Ulster Orchestra, Manchester
Camerata, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Concert Orchestra and the
London Sinfonietta conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. His solo recordings include a
disc of Erik Satie (BMG/Classic FM) and John Ireland's piano music for
Naxos
(three discs). Also released by
Naxos
is a Gramophone award winning recording of Michael Nyman's Piano Concerto with
the
Ulster
Orchestra, which reached number five in the
UK
classical charts.
